Our Wines

The mountain vineyards surrounding the Napa Valley have rockier soils and better drainage.  They tend to produce smaller grapes with less juice and more skin.  All of a wine’s color, tannin, and much of its flavor complexity comes from the skin.  Mountain vineyards produce more intense, deeply colored and more structured wines.  Howell Mountain and Mount Veeder produce some of the biggest cabernets.

2013 MOUNT VEEDER
Cabernet Sauvignon

Our 2013 Mount Veeder Cabernet Sauvignon is rich with aromas of blackberries, blueberry pie, black cherries, and sexy oak that flesh out this ripe, juicy wine. Fatter and sweeter than the Howell Mountain, the 2013 is showing intense berry flavors with bitter chocolate, tar, toasty caramel, and spice. The lingering finish shows off the luciously ripe tannins. This beautifully balanced wine is delicious now and should age for many years. Aged 22 months in 100% French oak barrels.

20102013 HOWELL MOUNTAIN
Cabernet Sauvignon

2013 was the best vintage yet for the Elsberg Vineyard. Bold and beautiful, this lush cabernet displays Howell Mountain’s expressive layers of raspberries, cherries, chocolate and spice, along with robust minerality. Expressive aromas of berries and flowers introduce the concentrated flavors that continuously reveal themselves as this wine opens up.  An impressive offering, and one of the great bargains in Napa cabernet. Nuances of flavors contributed by 30 months in 100% French oak barrels complement the fruit.
